Continuing with that really really short introduction from earlier in this thread ...

Jim Gillam is the name - a 42 year old smart owner. Thank goodness these little things finally arrived in Canada since I've been waiting five LONG years after seeing them in Europe.

Took ownership the end of September 2004 and have had a great time with this car since. I originally ordered a black and lime coupe passion (yes I know who is driving it from MB Oakville) ...

I am a child therapist during the day, a writer during the evening and into the late night it seems. Four books are on the market now. One about the space race to the moon in the 1960's, Collectable Toys (Major Matt Mason) , The making of the Lord of the Rings movies and now a Space Adventure kids book series (Ticket To Orbit) and somewhere in there I fit in a cartoon screenplay, Zeroids - return to Planet Zero ... and smartimes of course. Born and raised in Hamilton. As an adult lived in Dundas and now Stoney Creek - across the pond from you all in Toronto.

The smart is turning me into a tree hugging Mac/Apple using and now recycling guy who heckles Hummers - whats that all about? It must all go hand in hand as long as I dont start wearing socks with my sandels I'm okay.

Just got back from Puerto Vallarta a few weeks ago (I am desperately trying to finish a new kids book - Rage of the Clones for August 1 - a follow up to Alpha City 2050 soon to be followed by Relativity in 2006). If you grew up on the Hardy Boys and Tom Swift you've got the idea of Ticket to Orbit ... while in Mexico I was able to get up close and personal with the smart forfours there - VERY nice-if only they were coming here ... NOW

There - a better intro then my first rather pathetic attempt.

Thanks for the follow-up intro with more details! It's always nice to learn more about other smart car enthusiasts. Sounds like you have a very busy life indeed! Good luck with your current deadline.

Cheers.

[ One about the space race to the moon in the 1960's,

One question Jim, on the other forum there are a couple of posts from people denying that man ever went to the moon. Something, about photo angles, flags waving in an airless environment etc. What is your take on this?

.

If you grew up on the Hardy Boys and Tom Swift you've got the idea of Ticket to Orbit

Nice intro, said Tom swiftly.

People will think what they like but being pretty involved with the space program - research and the like there is no question that the moon walks were real - to spend more time of such silly notions is a waste - but - people truly can think what they like in the end ... We'll be back there soon enough with the coming base and mining ...
