TFM Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Hello all, I just finished the Club Smart Car logo text. Whew. It was a bit of effort for a graphically challenged person like myself. What do you guys think? Of course Club Smart Car is for the top level domain. Each club like Vancouver or Marmots or whatever can modify it or replace it entirely for their own flavour. But I think it conveys the theme pretty good. Quote
Xandria Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 hey, that's pretty good. Very clever, in fact! Well done. Quote
TFM Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 hey, that's pretty good. Very clever, in fact! Well done. Thanks. I've been thinking about that logo text for 4 months. Nice to finally get it together... Quote
Fred J Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 That looks great. You missed your calling, Dean. Quote
TFM Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 That looks great. You missed your calling, Dean. It's a curse really. I have great creative ideas but no artistic talent to pull them off... It took ages to find all the images to scan. Quote
SmartieParts Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Finally - a good use for that stupid chicken head. Quote
TFM Posted May 24, 2005 Author Posted May 24, 2005 Finally - a good use for that stupid chicken head. Thanks S_Mack! I think it really puts what Smart means to us. It's a coming together of ideas and differences to form one flowing whole. Put that symbol into a club and you have something powerful And of course the smart car looks like an 'a' to me so it was a natural! Quote
fortwo Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Nice logo. Now we'll need to get some printed. 8) Quote
TFM Posted May 25, 2005 Author Posted May 25, 2005 Nice logo. Now we'll need to get some printed. 8) Thanks fortwo. I also wanted to put the name of each club right under it where the "for everyone who loves smart cars" is now for the locals. Like Marmots or Vancouver etc. I'll make up a large, for print version. didiki Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Finally - a good use for that stupid chicken head. Oh I dunno. My other favourite cartoon character besides Yosemite Sam is Foghorn Leghorn. "I say, I say there missy". His head looks like our smart logo. Both of these poor buggers keep going through life full of hot air and bluster but always get shat upon from a great height. Very good logo. Quote
SmartieParts Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I should clarify I have no problem with the chicken head, per se... its that it appears to represent absolutely nothing and I have never ever heard a good reason for it. It's a "c" with an arrow.... smart, fortwo, mercedes, diamler-chrysler.... the only thing that appears to be represented by the "c" is the fact that it's a "c"ar. Quote
fortwo Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 When will you have the large version ready? I'm taking smartietwo in for window tinting soon and thought maybe I would put it across the top of the windshield. I'll make up a large, for print version. Quote
spinner Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Well done on the logo. And sized just right (letter substitution). Quote
HIGHBOOST Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I think its pretty good!!! I want to put two tiny ones on the side windows on my Cabrio and have "Edmonton" underit.. you know.. for the Edmonton chapter!! Quote

To make it print quality I'll have to redo it with HUGE graphics. Not a big deal, I just have to do it. Quote

I was thinking of having some of them static stickers like you see on coke coolers to put on the inside of your car and it's easy to remove. But first things first. Quote

Xandria Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I'm in if you do those! We'll be meeting with a new printer (does our business cards, training materials etc.) next week so I'll get some costs on such things. Plus I still have my little fourfold brochure of smart facts that I want them to print up. Quote
Xandria Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I am currently in discussions with smart Canada. While they have no Legal department here, they are being very good at working with me. My focus is the name of the club, the URL and logo. None are 100% until discussions are concluded which should be next week some time. Until then, please be patient and I will do my best to make it all 100%. I've done this before when working with LEGO Group of Companies and they had a team of lawyers that were very scary. So I'm hopeful. Cheers. Quote
TFM Posted May 27, 2005 Author Posted May 27, 2005 I think the logo looks pretty good the way it uses the images... As the devils advocate, I guess I just wonder if that will pose any issue? Having said that, I also wonder what it would look like with the text as 'new courier' font. I picked a font that was close to the word "smart". But feel free to moc up alternates!BTW - the url is a good one... I hope you didn't break the bank. Na. Total cost for both .ca and .com was about $50 bucks. Quote

SmartieParts Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hey, I got caught at my client's place surfing postings on this forum when he came in. The place is an advertising firm that specializes in farming equipment... dont' let that bother you, but the first thing out of the guy's mouth was "fantastic wordmark" No joke. He didn't seem interested in what it was for, but he liked it! Quote
