Gent Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Bummer - gotta check it from home. The work machines are too tightly configured. Quote
Awesys Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 You need JAVA to be installed. And check to see if the yellow bar appears at the top.The blue Loading bar won't show unless the Java applet is running.Maybe try refreshing the page, or using a different browser? Quote
Dang Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Java apps (they always seem to blow up on me for some reason), but this seems to work well. Good features, and runs fast.Later! Dang Quote
darren Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 It runs very smoothly once it's loaded, but it seems to take a long time to load. Quote
Cait Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Well...From an avid chatter, I have certainly seen my share of chatrooms, but usually I'm just on msn messenger, which, let's be honest, is probably the best there is. However, this chat seems to be pretty cool. It's got some cute emoticons, and a meow feature - can't go wrong. The only thing that I didn't see was a way to change your font/font colour. The only reason I see this as a potential problem is because it becomes difficult to follow a conversation without being able to easily identify the 'speaker' by colour or font style. In general, I'm ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to finally have some major steps taken toward a permanent chat for the site! headway has been made in the past, but nothing as promising as this =)WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!Get your chat on! Quote
TFM Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 Cait, this is the free version. The pay version lets you change your font and do some other nice things. When you are in the chat RIGHT CLICK in the window and you'll see many options you can do.I'm not sure if this version saves them. But the pay version (about $125 CDN a year) lets you do it all pretty much.Including adding icons and sounds. Quote
Eclectrix Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 but not so much with the chat as the dedication of TFM to continue to improve clubsmartcar. Being a busy man with a busy business to run and somehow finding the time and incentive to bring something new to the site is to be highly commended. Thank you Dean. Eileen Quote
rdij Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I just tried it and got a couple greetings - I'm doing something wrong because I couldn't respond.darryl (rdij) Quote
darren Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I just tried it again, and it loaded VERY fast. It gets a thumbs-up from me! (for what it's worth) Quote
yukoner Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Oh oh. I can foresee peeing away a lot more time on the computer now. Quote
TFM Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 peeing...Don't you mean socializing? Quote
Awesys Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I hope the pay version (if we go ahead with that) allows idling, because it will kick me out after a period of inactivity. Quote
TFM Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 I hope the pay version (if we go ahead with that) allows idling, because it will kick me out after a period of inactivity. Ya, me too. I wonder if the feature matrix mentions that? Quote
TFM Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 I just checked, yes, all levels of the pay version support changing the idle timeout. Quote
Retired RCAF Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Well this was a pleaant suprise.I like it. Much more up close etc. Could help someone get needed answers much quicker.Hope it works out,RCAF Quote
Diesel Dave Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I like it. I wish I had more time to use it though. Rather than just a car community, many of us have become real friends here and it's nice to be able to chat in real time. Thanks TFM. Quote
Kofångar-Lasse Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 . Good Job - very well done - kTNX TFM ! Quote
smartsally Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Don't know if the pay version will have the option I have seen on other chat sites where you can build rooms but it would be good if it did and we make a room for techincal and one for general chat so if someone has questions they can flag someone over to the technical room and could chat with out general hello's and meet and greets interfering.Just a thought incase we have that option. Quote
Gent Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It would be nice if we could have a "Who is Chatting now" section - similar to the "Who is Online" section we currently have for the forum. Quote

So we don't have to worry about slimes... Quote
