TFM Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 He's the one guilty of not letting it go! The last post was May 29th. That was pretty much the end of this thread. Then Alex comes in with his cutting and pasting size 12'ves and re-opens the thread to complain about that thread being open. But the great thing is is that he makes HIMSELF look like a total knob. So it really solved the problem by its self. Anyway, I'm sure I speak for everyone that we don't CARE what the "other board" does. If they want it to rest in peace then they should stop using the dredger machine... Now back to our smarties! Edit: spelling darn it...
MikeT Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 The maturity level here is reflected in the fact that we are allowed to be adults and actually discuss things openly. As more club meetings happen all across Canada, word will get around, and this site will become more and more popular. Time to move on, I think. All the best to all smart fans, wherever they are!
Bud Colby Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Does anyone know how many smart members were active members on MBC? Just wondering how many people use a forum in the smart world. The member list on MBC that I saw showed all members not just smart, unless there was a way to just show smart members that I didn't see. Bud
SmartieParts Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 My anymosity has rapidly declined - perhaps that can become contageous and we can regain focus on the task at hand. In my head, logic always tends to prevail over emotion. Now that I have shoved the emotion to the deepest depths of my being (ask my g/f of almost 9 years... yes.. 9 years and still not my wife... I have deep depths my friends) my logic sees it like this: There never were "smart" members at mbcanada.com, because mbcanada is, as the name implies, exactly what they are trying to re-form there now - a Mercedes Benz enthusiast's community and forum. They are representing all brands there, and attempting to focus on the overall community rather than the brands specifically. That is what they originally wanted, and when things started to "flow over" with the rampant growth of the smart section - they wanted to regain that focus. Ok, so things weren't done to everyone's liking but really... does that matter? The actions that were taken, in the end - I think - are going to be to everyone's satisfaction. Cooper put it best when he said something like, "to those of you looking for a smart specific site... search the Internet". Their site isn't a smart site, so why were we so hurt when they pushed us to form our own (by "us", I mean really Dean and Xandria - kudos for their championing)? It was simply a natural evolution. It was shocking, abrupt evolution... leaving bitter tastes in the mouths of those involved on both "sides"... but I think natural nonetheless. The worry was that this site would compete with theirs.... our thoughts were that it could be complementary... in the end, it will pretty much be wholly exclusive if those involved continue on the paths they are on right now (no single group of people meant there - just the whole sitation in general). Of course things could change... in one of MANY ways... but the way it is going is just one path and there's nothing wrong with it. The fighting will stop. I just hope sooner rather than later. I'm by no means trying to say I'm above all this bickering and you children should be settling down... I'm just as guilty as everyone else, and I know that. I don't like burning bridges (mending fences always seems to be more productive) so I've had my say over there, made some apologies - received some apologies - and I think everyone feels a little better. I will continue to be an active member on mbcanada.com, just probably less so because I am less interested in MB than I am specifically in smart. This is my new "smart" site. I'm happy that I was welcomed here and I'll do my part to promote it (ethically) contribute to it, and otherwise assist where I can. But I'm not going to continue any mudslinging, hurful commentary, or anything else that may be a turn off to new members arriving. I doubt it will be, but I hope this is my last politically-related post. - Steven *EDIT* Except for here of course! VOTE OPTION 1 before its too late. It is your democratic duty!
TFM Posted June 4, 2005 Author Posted June 4, 2005 You conniving mud slinger! Your trying to buy votes! Vote Option two! Do it or you'll be sorry! Edit: On the off chance that anyone mis-reads this or S_Mack's post about Option voting. It's a joke that we are carrying along until someone has the clear victory. It's all in fun and not meant to be taken seriously.
FlushBush Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 I'll be contributing to any interesting thread that appears on either forum. That said, if I were to start a new topic, I?d definitely do it here. I?ll continue posting on Mbcanada.com as a gesture of respect to Freitaq who carries on the noble tradition established by Mike T and other top-notch contributors (including Fred J). The Police State administrative tactics exerted by ?The Big Benz Boyz? drove those smarties away and that IMHO was just plain dumb.
