1999 Smart ForTwo

3 posts in this topic

Hi Everyone, I have a really quick question.

Im about to purchase a 1999 Smart ForTwo coupe from someone but i noticed the gear shift didn't have a park symbol. Also once pushed the card would roll on its own?

Is there a way that I'm not aware of that the car is put in park other than pulling up the hand brake? They are telling me thats how its done. (Keep in mind they haven't had the car long either.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Put gear selector to reverse and shut off the car. Locks tranny. No park feature.

Transmission is not real auto. Just a normal manual transmission fitted with computer controlled actuators that operate clutch and gear stick. There are no parking pawls so car may still roll when parked in reverse.
